"Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar: Bestselling Author Eric Pascarello Helps With Debugging AJAX
Pascarello's Session: "Solving AJAX Problems"
Apr. 26, 2006 11:00 AM
Eric Pascarello's session at the "Real-World AJAX" One-Day Seminar yesterday in San Jose and the San Jose Hilton's Almaden Ballroom was about problems that an AJAX developer may never see in testing but that exist in the AJAX world on the Net.
Pascarello is the co-author, with another "Real-World AJAX" speaker from the hit New York version of this One-Day Seminar, Dave Crane, of Ajax in Action.
He is also the author of JavaScript: Your Visual Blueprint for Building Dynamic Web Pages (2nd Ed.). Eric is the moderator of the HTML and JavaScript forum at JavaRanch and maintains an AJAX-based blog at http://radio.javaranch.com/pascarello.
As an AJAX developer at market10.com, the world's first job matching site, Pascarello's topic was based on his extensive experience with AJAX functionality on market10.com.
"I do not know of anyone that talks or blogs about these problems other than me," he notes.
Those lucky enough to be attending in San Jose learned first-hand about some common oversights by AJAX developers, as well as heard from Pascarello about some strange things that occur within AJAX applications. He also offered ways of tracking almost all of a developer's clientside errors.
Real-world log entries from his real-world server formed the leitmotif throughout this example-rich session, which was based on the premiss that JavaScript isn't easy, but that it is possible to master it. One thing is certain: debugging AJAX errors seemed a whole lot more straightforward after Pascarello's fifty minutes were up!
