Nexaweb's CTO To Present Open Source Reference Stack
Coach Wei will also demo how visual tooling can be layered on top of that reference stack
Feb. 9, 2007 04:15 PM
At his upcoming session at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East in New York City, Nexaweb chairman and CTO Coach Wei will among other things present a reference open-source stack for AJAX development and demo how visual tooling - fully integrates Dojo, Eclipse WTP, Eclipse ATF and Apache XAP - can be layered on top of that reference stack to enable visual drag and drop development.
"AJAX is powerful," Wei notes, "but it is not easy: there are significant development and maintenance challenges."
His session will present how AJAX can be dramatically simplified by combing community projects together, eventually achieving visual drag-and-drop development.
"There are a wide variety of community initiatives related to AJAX," says Wei, "including the OpenAjax Alliance, a wide variety of AJAX toolkits, declarative AJAX frameworks and AJAX development tooling. My session will explore how AJAX toolkits can help AJAX development and how declarative frameworks can be layered on top of AJAX toolkits to further simplify coding. For example, how declarative AJAX enables developers that don’t have sophisticated JavaScript/DHTML skills to develop sophisticated AJAX applications."
In addition to being chairman and CTO of Nexaweb Technologies, an Enterprise Web 2.0 software company, Wei is well known as a champion for open source and open standards, the author of the open source word processor AjaxWord, a committer at Apache XAP project and a member of OpenAjax Alliance steering committee.
A frequent speaker at industry events with published work in a variety of technical journals, he obtained his master's degree from MIT, holds six patents and maintains “Direct from Web 2.0” blog at http://www.coachwei.com.
At AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, aside from sessions such as this one by Nexaweb's Coach Wei, delegates will hear and learn not only the history, process, and inspiration behind AJAX, they will also be helped to design actual AJAX applications using JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the Document Object Model (DOM) and XMLHttpRequest Object.
Delegates can hand-pick sessions from six tracks pitched at a a variety of levels from Beginner to Advanced. Rather than staying at the platform-agnostic level, developers and IT professionals will find among the 100+ sessions at AJAXWorld real-world examples in all the main server-side technologies such as PHP, Java, .NET and ColdFusion.
